Elles ont favoris\u00e9 l\u2019\u00e9mergence d\u2019un ensemble de comp\u00e9tences sonores, et ont structur\u00e9 l\u2019\u00e9coute comme une pratique corporelle et sociale sp\u00e9cifique. Le d\u00e9veloppement des outils de reproduction et de transmission sonore a \u00e9galement conduit \u00e0 la constitution de r\u00e9gimes auditifs particuliers et d\u2019un ensemble de reconfigurations spatiales, qui ont eu un impact significatif sur les arts et les cultures de l\u2019\u00e9coute en inscrivant le son, la technologie et la m\u00e9diation sonore dans des syst\u00e8mes complexes d\u2019interaction sociale et esth\u00e9tique.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c0 partir de l\u2019hypoth\u00e8se d\u2019une intrication entre les cultures auditives, les r\u00e9gimes de perception associ\u00e9s et les techniques d\u2019\u00e9coute, la journ\u00e9e d\u2019\u00e9tude\u00a0<em>T\u00e9l\u00e9-Phonies<\/em> propose l\u2019analyse des r\u00e9gimes de perception et des cultures de l\u2019\u00e9coute li\u00e9s \u00e0 la notion plurielle de distance. Envisager l\u2019\u00e9coute non seulement comme le propre des r\u00e9seaux de communication t\u00e9l\u00e9phoniques et des m\u00e9dias de masse radiophoniques, mais, plus largement, comme un ensemble de pratiques et de techniques m\u00e9diatiques d\u2019\u00e9coute \u00e0 distance au sein ou en marge de ces r\u00e9seaux, nous permettra de comprendre leur profond impact sur les arts du son et les cultures auditives.<\/p>\n<p>L&rsquo;\u00e9coute implique toujours une forme de distance, qu&rsquo;elle soit mat\u00e9rielle, m\u00e9taphorique, g\u00e9ographique, temporelle ou sociale. D&rsquo;un point de vue mat\u00e9riel, cette distance se concr\u00e9tise \u00e0 travers les infrastructures techniques, qui modifient l&rsquo;exp\u00e9rience de l&rsquo;\u00e9coute et introduisent un rapport renouvel\u00e9 aux \u00e9loignements topologiques, culturels et attentionnels qui nous s\u00e9parent. Dans certains cas, ces m\u00e9diations sonores entra\u00eenent de profondes reconfigurations spatiales et sociales, structurant de v\u00e9ritables territoires de l&rsquo;\u00e9coute. La notion de distance peut \u00e9galement renvoyer \u00e0 des enjeux sociaux et culturels, tels que les in\u00e9galit\u00e9s d&rsquo;acc\u00e8s aux technologies, mais aussi aux questions li\u00e9es au handicap et aux contrastes entre les diff\u00e9rentes cultures auditives.<\/p>\n<p>Pour aborder ces enjeux, la journ\u00e9e d\u2019\u00e9tude\u00a0<em>T\u00e9l\u00e9-Phonies<\/em> adopte une approche pluridisciplinaire, convoquant les m\u00e9thodologies de l\u2019histoire de l\u2019art, de l\u2019arch\u00e9ologie des m\u00e9dias et des \u00e9tudes sonores, mais aussi des <em>Science and Technology Studies <\/em>(STS) et de l\u2019histoire de la musique. Les objets et pratiques artistiques envisag\u00e9s seront eux-m\u00eames le plus souvent hybrides, situ\u00e9s \u00e0 la jonction des arts plastiques, des cultures sonores et de la musique, et plus g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement en marge des techniques et pratiques culturelles qui dominent l\u2019historiographie de l\u2019\u00e9coute \u00e0 distance.<\/p>\n<p>Du r\u00eave d\u2019un art \u00ab&#160;en quatre dimensions&#160;\u00bb profess\u00e9 par le Manifeste futuriste\u00a0<em>La <\/em><em>Radia<\/em> en 1933, au projet <em>Echoes of the Moon<\/em> (1987) de Pauline Oliveros, l\u2019histoire de l\u2019art et de la musique montre \u00e0 quel point les imaginaires et les pratiques de l\u2019\u00e9coute ont \u00e9t\u00e9 aliment\u00e9s par les techniques radiophoniques et t\u00e9l\u00e9phoniques, mais aussi radioastronomiques. Le d\u00e9sir de connexion \u00e0 distance de la modernit\u00e9 se heurte cependant aux r\u00e9alit\u00e9s sociales et politiques des infrastructures et des environnements techniques. Leur mat\u00e9rialit\u00e9 et leur r\u00e9ancrage culturel remettent en question le fantasme moderne d\u2019une communication transparente. D\u00e8s les ann\u00e9es 1960 et 1970, des artistes interrogent l\u2019histoire des techniques m\u00e9diatiques de transmission et d\u2019enregistrement du son, en adoptant une approche proche de celle de l\u2019arch\u00e9ologie des m\u00e9dias. \u00c0 partir des ann\u00e9es 1980, d\u2019autres appropriations politiques, communautaires et exp\u00e9rimentales de la radiophonie viennent en redessiner les contours sociaux et mat\u00e9riels, tandis que la musique et la cr\u00e9ation sonore embrassent les r\u00e9seaux de t\u00e9l\u00e9communication. La cr\u00e9ation sonore \u00e0 distance est alors r\u00e9activ\u00e9e sur un mode collaboratif et pr\u00e9figure l\u2019\u00e8re contemporaine de la \u00ab&#160;musique mobile&#160;\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019histoire de l\u2019enregistrement sonore influence profond\u00e9ment les imaginaires li\u00e9s \u00e0 un r\u00e9gime \u00ab&#160;schizophonique&#160;\u00bb qui, dissociant le son reproduit de son origine par sa m\u00e9diation technique, est \u00e0 l\u2019origine de nombreuses recherches en psychoacoustique, mais aussi de narrations qui forment l\u2019hypoth\u00e8se d\u2019une dimension spectrale de l\u2019enregistrement et de la transmission sonore. Il est par exemple possible d\u2019envisager l\u2019\u00e9coute acousmatique et ses dispositifs, \u00e9rig\u00e9s par la musique concr\u00e8te en v\u00e9ritable m\u00e9thodologie de l\u2019\u00e9coute r\u00e9duite, comme une forme d\u2019\u00e9coute \u00e0 distance&#160;; il en va de m\u00eame pour certains modes de communication sonore par la voix, ainsi que pour les techniques du corps, telles que la ventriloquie.<\/p>\n<p>Les diff\u00e9rentes distances qui traversent l\u2019histoire du son m\u00e9di\u00e9 dessinent de v\u00e9ritables \u00e9cologies politiques de l\u2019\u00e9coute. Ainsi, l\u2019\u00e9coute \u00e0 distance est associ\u00e9e aux contextes militaires et civils d\u2019espionnage et de surveillance&#160;; elle peut s\u2019inscrire dans le contexte g\u00e9n\u00e9ralis\u00e9 d\u2019une \u00ab&#160;guerre sonore&#160;\u00bb, o\u00f9 l\u2019affect vibratoire est red\u00e9fini par la distanciation et la virtualisation de la violence. Elle est aussi habit\u00e9e de technologies comme l\u2019\u00e9chosondeur ou le sonar, dont l\u2019\u00e9tude de l\u2019ancrage au sein de logiques extractivistes r\u00e9v\u00e8le la dimension sonore de l\u2019exploitation des ressources naturelles \u00e0 l\u2019heure de l\u2019anthropoc\u00e8ne et du capitalisme tardif. Les normes de perception, d\u2019accessibilit\u00e9 de l\u2019\u00e9coute m\u00e9di\u00e9e et des technologies auditives sont \u00e9galement interrog\u00e9es par les\u00a0<em>Disability media studies<\/em>.
