Elle est con\u00e7ue en \u00e9cho \u00e0 la publication d\u2019un appel \u00e0 contributions pour un\u00a0<a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/oap.unige.ch\/journals\/rhca\/06_modernite\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">futur num\u00e9ro<\/a>\u00a0de la\u00a0<em class=\"\">Revue d\u2019Histoire Contemporaine de l\u2019Afrique<\/em>, \u00e0 para\u00eetre en 2024 et intitul\u00e9 \u00ab&#160;Usages situ\u00e9s de la modernit\u00e9. Repenser les r\u00e9cits de l\u2019art depuis l\u2019Afrique,\u00a0<em class=\"\">c<\/em>. 1920-1980&#160;\u00bb. La journ\u00e9e d\u2019\u00e9tudes prend appui sur l\u2019argumentaire et la d\u00e9finition de travail qui y sont formul\u00e9s pour saisir l\u2019art dit\u00a0<em class=\"\">moderne<\/em>\u00a0en contexte africain. Une cat\u00e9gorie critique et dynamique qui peut \u00eatre perform\u00e9e ou impos\u00e9e, et s\u2019articule \u00e0 un espace-temps qui pr\u00e9c\u00e8de le champ de l\u2019art contemporain. Et une cat\u00e9gorie aux chronologies mouvantes et instables, g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement comprises entre les ann\u00e9es 1920 et 1980.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Ces d\u00e9cennies sont un moment important de r\u00e9volutions esth\u00e9tiques et techniques, en partie n\u00e9es de situations de contact, qui voient \u00e9merger et se former des sc\u00e8nes et des styles singuliers longtemps minor\u00e9s par la discipline histoire de l\u2019art. Si les acteurs et actrices des \u00e9tudes culturelles, postcoloniales et subalternes (parmi d\u2019autres) ont \u0153uvr\u00e9 \u00e0 bousculer la discipline et \u00e0 lui faire r\u00e9\u00e9valuer son narratif, l\u2019inscription des sc\u00e8nes plastiques africaines \u00e0 un r\u00e9cit global de l\u2019histoire des arts se fait bien souvent sans attention aux r\u00e9cits vernaculaires, pens\u00e9s et produits localement. Ces derniers ont pourtant accompagn\u00e9 d\u00e8s les pr\u00e9misses \u0153uvres et artistes \u2013 ont jou\u00e9 d\u2019invention dans les champs de la litt\u00e9rature et de la critique d\u2019art avant les d\u00e9partements d\u2019histoire de l\u2019art des universit\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Cette journ\u00e9e souhaite revenir sur la plasticit\u00e9 du terme \u00ab&#160;moderne&#160;\u00bb et sur les enjeux qu\u2019il suscite, en privil\u00e9giant une approche transdisciplinaire qui dialogue au plus pr\u00e8s des sources et des \u0153uvres d\u2019art. Elle assume une forte dimension exploratoire, et accueillera les discussions soucieuses des questions de narratif, de traduction, de restitution de la parole des acteurs et actrices, tout comme les approches davantage monographiques qui ont pour mat\u00e9riau privil\u00e9gi\u00e9 les sources vernaculaires (archives, presse, litt\u00e9rature, r\u00e9cits oraux) ou, paradoxalement, leur absence. Elle ne prescrit ni n&rsquo;exclut toutefois pas d\u2019orientation, et invite \u00e0 saisir une g\u00e9ographie large du continent africain. Elle souhaite amorcer une dynamique collective, nourrie en filigrane par une mise en question de l\u2019\u00e9pist\u00e9mologie de la discipline histoire de l\u2019art, pens\u00e9e depuis le continent africain.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"x_important\"><strong class=\"\">Calendrier et modalit\u00e9s de soumission<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"\">Les propositions de communication, d\u2019une longueur maximale de 500 mots, peuvent \u00eatre soumises en fran\u00e7ais ou en anglais.
